Hi guys, this post will be on the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine.

BACKGROUND:

The Islamic Jihad Movement of Palestine were formed in 1981. Their objective us the destruction of the state of Israel and the establishment of an Islamic Palestinian state. They have been labelled a terrorist organization by the US, the EU, the UK, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Israel. Also Iran is said to be a major finacial supporter of the Islamic Jihad Movement of Palestine. It is also believed that Syria have given them fincial aid.

GEOGRAPHY:

The Islamic Jihad Movement if Palestine works in the Gaza Strip. The Gaza Strip is bordered by Egypt and Israel. There is often news about conflict happening there.

The Saved Sect

Hi guys, this post will be on the Saved Sect.

BACKGROUND:

The Saved Sect, more commonly known as The Saviour Sect, is a Muslim Islamist organization that operated in the UK from November 2005 until 17 of July 2006 when the British government proscribed it. It is believed to be a reformed Al-Muhajiroun that Omar Bakri disbanded in 2004. It is also believed that Omar Bakri still heads this organization. In November 2005 Al-Ghurabaa and the saved sect were re-established under the name Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaah. This operates mainly through an invitation-only internet forum. A reporter visiting the site found recordings of Osama Bin Laden, Ayman al Zawahiri and Omar Bakri, as well as calls for a holy war.

GEOGRAPHY:

The saved sect were based in the UK until the government closed the group down. this made the group now use the internet.

IRA

Hi guys, this post will be about the provisional IRA.

BACKGROUND:

The Provisional IRA were an active terrorist organization from 1969 to 2005. they were founded because when a catholic non-violent protest was happening Ulster Loyalists attacked the protest. they were an Irish paramilitary organization that sought to remove Northern Ireland from the UK and bring an independent republic encompassing all of Ireland. At first they were set up as a defence to the Republic but the had their first offence in 1971. They were the biggest and most involved republican paramilitary during the troubles. they called a final ceasefire in July 1997 and were disarmed in 2005.

GEOGRAPHY:

The provisional IRA only worked out of the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK.

Al-Qaeda

Hi guys, this post I will be writing about Al-Qaeda.

BACKGROUND:

Al-Qaeda is a militant Islamic organization. It was founded by Osama Bin Laden, Abdullah Azzam and other militants in Peshawar, Pakistan between some point in August 1988 to late 1989.

Al-Qaeda are most famous for there attacks on the twin towers in America. the 9/11 attacks were a reason why America launched a war on terror.

Al-Qaeda have had 6 major terrorist attacks. the first was in Aden, Yemen where 2 bombs were detonated on thee 29 of December 1992. Their most recent and deadly attack was the 9/11 bombings where 2 planes crashed into the twin towers causing up to 3000 deaths.


GEOGRAPHY:

Al-Qaeda are based in Pakistan but they have had operations in many countries around the world such as the UK, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Mali, Niger, Uganda, Somalia, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, India and more.

Hi guys, today I'm going to talk about Isis. At the moment Isis is one of the world's biggest terrorist threats.

BACKGROUND:

Isis are known as an extremist group of Muslims who have been catergorised by the UN, The EU, The UK, The US, Australia, Canada, Turkey, The UAE and Saudi Arabia as a terrorist organisation.  

Isis originated as Jama'at al-Tawhid wal-Jihad in 1999, which was renamed Tanzim Qaidat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn commonly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq in 2004. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, al-Qaeda took part in the Iraqi insurgency. In 2006, it joined other Sunni insurgent groups to form the Mujahideen Shura Council, which consolidated further into the Islamic State of Iraq shortly afterwards.

Isis have come recently into the spotlight as they have been capturing prisoners and beheading them.
It is known that at least 10 kurds, 2 American journalists, 1 American and 2 British aid workers and 3 Libyans. there has also been an unknown amount of Syrians and Iraqis who have been killed. They have also killed several Lebanese soldiers.

Geography of Isis:

Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, otherwise known as Isis, from their name state that they are based in Iraq and Syria,  but they also operate in Libya, the Sinai peninsula Egypt and in other areas of the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

I decided to do my Environmental Studies blog project on the geography of terrorism because I have an interest in war and the struggles countries have to face with dealing with terrorism. So I wanted to find out where some terrorist group are located and where terrorism originated.
